The first completed commission of the year saw a return to one of my most requested subjects… Swiss mountains! these canvases were conceived as a new mountain diptych, featuring Mt Rigi and Mt Pilatus. The canvases are both 61 x 61cm and seem to work well as colourful windows to this stunning landscape.
Rigi rises above Oberwil (between Zug and Walchwil) and Pilatus is imagined above Lucerne. Although you can see both peaks in these real life views, it required some artistic edits to balance the importance of both background and foreground.
I’m pleased with the balance between the two pieces, vibrant and bright with a nice mix of detail and more expressive brushwork. The clients seemed happy too, it will be a reminder of the area they lived in before returning to the UK.
