Killiney Hill Commission Painting by Jonathan Chapman

I have a very sweet personal commission to share today, a view of the emerald isle… with this study of Killiney Hill near Dublin. It’s the southernmost of the two hills which form the southern boundary of Dublin Bay. Crowned by an obelisk, the hill is 153 metres high and has views over the surrounding area. The painting was commissioned by a young couple looking to celebrate a new addition to the family, and this spot held wonderful memories for them.

I loved the yellow of the flowering gorse bushes between the grey rock textures and the lush grass. It’s a simple enough idea, created with acrylic and ink on heavyweight paper. On this occasion we decided to mount and wrap the artwork for delivery to Ireland, with framing to be completed locally.
