Lofoten Islands Norway - Illustration by Jonathan Chapman
I’m finally back on the World Series trail! although I wont be posting in this series quite as often as last year, i’m certainly hoping to build on those initial 26 paintings and create a larger collection of views from fascinating locations around the globe. I still have my wish list of places i’d like to paint from (and eventually visit!) but i’d love to hear your suggestions too. Email me with your ideas or head over to social media and add your comments!

So my first World Series image of 2019 is the Lofoten Islands, Norway. Lofoten is known for a distinctive scenery with dramatic mountains and peaks, open sea and sheltered bays, beaches and untouched lands. Though lying within the Arctic Circle, the archipelago experiences one of the world’s largest elevated temperature anomalies relative to its high latitude.

Featured is the picturesque fishing village of Reine, located on the island of Moskenesøya in the Lofoten archipelago. Painted with acrylic and ink, 39 x 29 cm on paper. You can follow along with my world series here on the studio blogfacebooktwitter or instagram.Next up: No.28 – Nyhavn Copenhagen
