Here’s a painting study of the annual Round the Island Race off the Isle of Wight. It’s one of the main events during Cowes Week and an excellent excuse to play with some Summer colours. I seem to have turned the sea into a very calm lake! but I enjoyed throwing down those splashes of colour reflected from the sails as they glide by…I get asked quite regularly during open studios for seascapes and sailing scenes, but as always my wish list is incredibly long and I never seem to get round to them! This ‘Round the Island Race’ piece isn’t the most dramatic i’ve created but it works really well in the square greeting card format. They’re in stock and available on the online shop.
I have been planning a few Cornish illustrations though… the OS maps are out and i’m feeling inspired by our recent trip. Expect to see more turbulent waves and atmospheric coastline views popping up on the blog in the not too distant future!
