Here’s a little Church commission I completed recently… the architecture of the Winchester Baptist Church has such lovely clean lines. The facade is a cool cream colour, but in the past has also been blue. The top of the columns have crisp white blocks with bold black lettering. Sadly the building is currently covered over for renovations, but hopefully this little study works well as a reminder of it’s simple beauty… something we’ll enjoy seeing again once the scaffolding has been removed!

The commission was created with acrylic and ink on acrylic paper. The painted sections were then cut out and raised from the backdrop… finally mounting within a 23 x 23 cm box frame. I love the challenge of ‘exploding’ these scenes, allowing the buildings to slide past one another as you move viewpoint around in front of it. It’s a simple example this one, but the Winchester Baptist Church looks wonderful within the frame.
I made a video loop to show off that little bit of depth in the scene… what do you think?
