Something new this week, always nice to tick off another of the commercial illustration wish list! I had the opportunity to work on some T-Shirt designs for Yarty. I already had lots of assets and illustrated elements created for other Yarty projects… so it was a pleasure to spend some time arranging and adapting them to hopefully fit on a shirt design. I started off with this ring, formed from the different fruits/ingredients found in the various product lines.
I usually try and start off with my line work and work up the hand drawn details; so it felt natural to drop this first concept onto a white tee. But the finished garments are going to be used for trade shows and events, so the idea of going dark with the background colour was soon raised… allowing for plenty of dirt and effort during the day without making the T-shirt look scruffy! And of course, for anyone who knows the Yarty brand, we couldn’t stop ourselves taking a look at a black garlic vinegar design too!
The artwork files are now in the hands of The Sea Dog Print Studio, based just round the corner from Yarty in Southsea. I’m very excited to see what they can do with them!
