I have a new wrapping paper design to shout about! It’s a little different to my previous full colour illustrated patterns that feature real places (although I certainly have more of those is my little black book of ideas). This one is a ‘simpler’ line drawing pattern with small spot illustrations of explorers tools and star constellations. I had already used some of these decorative drawings across my website and my packaging; as the gift wrap design hadn’t quite come together. But i’m delighted to have finally managed to make it as a full pattern. I’ve called it ‘Explore by the Stars’. Here’s a swatch sample of the artwork spread…
I reversed the line work to make the illustrations white; then set them against a deep blue background. I didn’t want to go too dark, but I was determined to get a really rich looking colour. I think it was successful… but what do you think?! I expect i’ll start using if for wrapping prints and gifts sold through the studio shop. But it will be available to buy on it’s own, as loose sheets from the studio or as folded pre-wrapped packs with matching tags.
This design will also sit along a new festive box that i’ve been developing. Mostly aimed at those who find me through the Etsy platform; particularly those international customers who have to pay the expensive shipping costs. The Christmas box will group together a collection of my festive favourites as a small parcel bundle; including wrapping paper, greeting cards, an ornament and a calendar. Hopefully providing better value on postage.
