I’ve really been enjoying working on these Seawhite canvases. They’re just the right size to make an impact on the wall with plenty of space for colours and details. But not the same endurance required as with the BIG canvas pieces! So extremely satisfying to see the artwork coming together so quickly. This one was requested by my partner, intended as a special gift for a rather special close friend of the family. A colourful landscape study inspired by a viewpoint in the Peak District. ‘Stanage Edge’ was created with acrylic and ink on a 30 x 30cm square. Here’s some photos of the painting in a theatrical black floater frame…
I think the black really shows up the line work and heightens the colour. Quite dramatic really, but then I believe that’s something people like about my work. I did try it within a white frame. Still a lovely presentation… but I just couldn’t resist that stronger, and darker finish.
I’m currently working on a couple more gifts at this size. To be revealed soon! Along with a number of festive scenes. I’m going to try and resist posting too many of those until we’re much closer to Christmas. It’s such a big part of my work that it’s kind of unavoidable. If you don’t mind a little early festive art… you can find me over on facebook, twitter or instagram. As always, I love to hear your suggestions, so please get in touch with those interesting places you have discovered! And of course, if you are interested in commissioning a painting like ‘Stanage Edge’ please do check out my private commission guide.
