Last year I posted some designs for window vinyls that were due to be installed at a site here in WInchester. It’s been a long time coming, but everything is finally now in place at the new St Clements building on Upper Brook Street. The GP surgery has moved over from their old home on Tanner Street to a purpose built home on Upper Brook Street. The fresh construction provided opportunity to add some creative touches. This mostly focused on the external window panels that faced the one way system. But the lovely whitewashed walls of the interior also required a few choice pieces to make it feel like home (for both patients and staff!). Here are some photos of the St Clements exterior; it was nice to finally find a sunny day to capture them in their best light!

It would have been amazing to see these in full colour. But the planners preferred the parred back options with these adapted blue tones. I’m still delighted with how they turned out and it’s wonderful to see the line work displayed at this scale. It certainly draws the eye as you drive past.
The outer pieces had been up for a little while and I had held off on posting photos here as we were due to hang inside prior to the official opening. We finally found a weekend to put up some canvas artwork (reproductions rather than originals in this public space). We also had number of framed photos and a wallpaper mural to install at the reception desk. Not an image of mine for the mural, but a lovely stock photo of Winchester. I’d had some limited experience of this type of wallpaper after a customer had placed a stairwell mural using one of my illustrations in their home… so I also offered help with that installation. All of the selected canvases were nice colour studies of Winchester views.

A Quick St Clements Tour
I managed to capture some video during the official opening. Just a few snippets of the windows, and the celebratory gathering inside!
On the day of installation we recorded a little piece to camera for Mariella Southern, a Winchester Journalism student. Only a small section of it was featured on the Winchester University news bulletin. But we were of course very grateful for the extra coverage. You can watch our ramblings here:
I think my style of work looks at home on these windows. I’d love to try my hand at a full shop window sometime!
