It almost feels safe to post Christmas illustrations… almost. Every year it’s a strange balance between customers who ask after Christmas Cards during the Summer Open Studios (!) and resisting flooding social media with festive images before the advent calendars are even out. I’m always keen to add some new self-initiated designs to my range, and I felt overdue for a fresh Winchester Winter scene. Here’s my illustration of ‘Carols Around the Christmas Tree in Winchester’ which will soon be available as a greeting card in the online Christmas Shop.I do already have a snowy High Street image, but I wanted to make more of a feature of the Christmas Tree in Winchester (which is sadly never quite as lush and evergreen as i’ve portrayed it here!) alongside the Buttercross. It’s perhaps a slightly twee painting, but occasionally it’s lovely to just enjoy those softer colours and brushstrokes as something decorative… I certainly hope it works for it’s main purpose, which is to be an effective Christmas card design. This one is now at the printers, so I expect it to be in stock before my Winter Open Studio weekend on the 16th/17th November. You can follow along with any new published artworks and sneak previews of work in progress here on the studio blog, facebook, twitter or instagram.
