Last year I took part in the #ArtistSupportPledge, and today I can finally show off the art we picked up in the Summer! These studies were created by the wonderfully talented painter Emma Lowres. We actually picked them up during the limited open studios in August. In all honesty we had been eyeing up her work for a little while (well worth following her instagram for painted loveliness) and Nicky had messaged in the hope of arrange an art swap. I was delighted when Emma agreed. We were on the lookout for a landscape for our mantlepiece. But after booking an appointment to visit her home exhibition space we fell in love with this seascape instead!
Titled East Head, West Wittering, it’s a stunning oil painting on 50 x 40cm canvas. She had lots of amazing open air pieces, full of expressive brushwork. Given the means we would have bought them all! But we have a wonderful memory from West Wittering, where we had some family photographs taken as our eldest became a big sister. Emma was happy to swap this piece for my Forbidden City illustration. We also wanted to use our £200 pledge budget and picked out this beautiful colour study on board (below)… knowing we’d also need to spend some money on the framing for both pieces.
Because of the lockdown situation since it’s taken quite some time to get the framing sorted but we’re relieved to finally have them on the wall! You can see more of Emma’s landscapes and seascapes at www.emmalowres.art.com.
