Another feature piece to share… a pagoda with a view! perhaps the best view in Japan? It’s certainly one of the most recognisable locations in the country. Often used for blogs and travel sites advertising tourist trips. Chureito Pagoda (忠霊塔) in Yamanashi Prefecture has a stunning view to Mount Fuji. This is my take on the scene, complete with exaggerated cherry blossom and a faded blue landscape leading up to the mountain at the heart of the painting. Here’s a time-lapse capture of the painting process:

I didn’t manage to capture any of the inking this time, but you can see where I get carried away with the pinks in the foreground! I quite enjoyed the abstract nature of the blossom shapes. Hopefully they play well against the structure of the Pagoda.
